(News From Over the Fence)

March 1st..

Well.. We finally got to make a trade and get the High-Top Van we wanted...at least, it's got everything we wanted...not our original choice, but probably a better deal.. mainly cause we found it in East Texas.. Now all we need is somebody to call us and need us for a gig.. We're ready to go!

We're gonna be pickin' in North Louisiana again this weekend.. back at Tootie's Bar & Grill.. where we were last month. Lookin' forward to it.. we had a great time there!

So be on the lookout for our "new" pearl-white, GMC "Explorer" Van.. we'll be pullin' the band trailer with our name on it..so we'll be easy to spot!

FEBRUARY 17th..

Almost finished with this month.. We "sorta" celebrated Sue's Birthday on the 10th.. she turned .... years old. Hard to believe she's spent over half her life hangin' around with me! That alone calls for some sort of award! Comin' up in March..on the Sixth.. we'll be celebratin' our 40th Anniversary!

We're goin' back to our new favorite local bar and grill, Tootie's in Bellevue, Louisiana, again that weekend.. the 5th and 6th.. so we'll have some help celebratin' our Special Day, maybe!

Still plannin' on makin' it to Branson in May.. can't hardly wait! We'll be hangin' around with a whole passle of pickers! Plus.. we'll be "by ourselves"!

FEBRUARY 8th..

HAPPY DAY AFTER SUPERBOWL DAY, Y'ALL!

Okey Dokey.. Made a Month already in the New Decade! Almost feel we can make the whole year now..

We just got back this morning from North Louisiana after spending all weekend over there. Have to say, it was one of the best weekends we've had in a long while! Got to pick Friday and Saturday nights for some really nice folks at Tootie's Bar & Grill in "downtown" Bellevue, Louisiana (pop. about 12). It was like "coming home" for me.. I grew up in pickin' in little neighborhood "honky-tonks" like this.. everybody knows everybody, and no trouble!

In addition to pickin', we made some new friends and fans... one couple even insisted we spend the night at their house Saturday.. Then we got invited to come party at the bar for SuperBowl.. and being not much of a foot-ball fan, I sorta didn't really look forward to that.. until we got there.. It was a real good time! We had upfront seats at the bigscreen TV that was like watchin' in person.. And don't even get started about them Saints...

We're invited back next month for the first weekend.. lookin' forward to that!

Still tryin' to make some sort of decent trade or deal for the new high-top van we've decided we need... will let y'all know how that goes this week

JANUARY 17th..

We went on a Road Trip this weekend..all the way to North Louisiana, (Bellevue, to be

exact), to check out a place a friend, Felton Blaylock, told us about.

It was a "real live" Neighborhood Bar & Grill, called "Tootie's". Just like the ones I grew up pickin' in back in Houston hundreds of years ago.. Really nice folks runnin' the place.. a lady named Maggie was Manager/Bartender... really friendly. The few customers were all nice and receptive of our stuff.. made a little bit in the kitty, plus got fed one of the biggest hamburgers we ever saw! Home-cooked right there in the little grocery store/gas station next to the bar.. "Tootie's Grocery"!

We've been invited back in February for a 2 night gig.. hopefully, the place will be full, and we'll have another "favorite" place to pick!

The gig was a little bit different from our normal shows.. we had Felton settin' in with us pickin' guitar and singin' the blues.. it was a change of pace to say the least..

Hope some of you North Lousiana folks who might read this stuff decide to come see us in February.. the 5th & 6th.. and we'll try to boogie your socks off!

JANUARY 12th

Well.. it seems like the new year is just flyin' by... sort of.. Not too much to report for this posting.. We got a couple of Senior Citizen Home gigs coming up.. January 14th, and February 12th.. We love doin' those shows.. folks really appreciate us coming there! (We're "Stars" of the Nursing Home set!) Ha.. At least we try to give them a little variety.. not all Church Songs and preachin'.. they still like to boogie!

We also got a more "firm" agreement as to when we're goin' to Branson.. it's gonna be in May instead of March.. our "Bookin' Banker" informed us it would still be too cold to go in March. we're okay with that! We've had the "pleasure" of some really cold weather around here the past couple of weeks.. We don't care for it! Arizona is startin' to look more interesting!

Oh yeah.. did y'all hear about us winning tickets to a Willie Concert? Well, we did..and had one of the best times we've ever had.. even tho it was in Houston! We lived there a long time.. but would not go back there to live no matter what.. Just too damn busy! Willie put on one helluva a show.. didn't show any signs of slowing down.. which is something good to us.. we're gettin' close to bein' "senior pickers" ourselves! Age is only a relative thing.. only your relatives get old! or somethin..

JANUARY 2nd, 2010...

And Away We Go!!!..

Gonna clean the slate.. start everything on here as fresh as possible.. We had a really good time pickin' for the nice folks at the American Legion in Corsicana, Texas New Year's Eve!

Spent the day just goofin' off yesterday, and most of today.. Tryin' to get used to puttin' "2010" on any and all important papers (don't have too many of them.. not much of a problem), and concentrating on gettin' by.

Hope everybody who happens to actually read this stuff had a great holiday time, and got all you asked for from Santy Claus! Now.. let's get busy livin' another year in "the New Millennium".

We got some "good stuff" about to come our way real soon.. y'all stay tuned!
